Re "Why it matters: The report that Trump tried to fire Mueller” (sacbee.com, Jan. 26): I am a Sacramento resident, advocate for environmental protection, and a father of two. I care about making sure our democracy represents the people. I want to see my children enjoy the same fairness, justice, liberty, and compassion that I have experienced in this country, until recently. President Donald Trump tried to fire Special Counsel Robert Mueller investigating collusion by campaign with Russians. It is evident that the investigation is catching up to Trump and he will do whatever he can to stop it. Speaking up just got even more urgent. Our commander-in-chief is being investigated at the highest level because he possibly committed treason. We cannot hide. We need to call on our legislators to protect and support the Mueller investigation. Sens. Dianne Feinstein and Kamala Harris and Rep. Doris Matsui must work to protect and support Mueller, and Congress must take action immediately to ensure President Trump can’t interfere in Mueller’s investigation.
