Steinberg looks for trough, Ashby wastes money
Steinberg seeks landing pad
Re “Steinberg says he’s ‘all in’ for mayoral campaign” (Page 1A, May 15): “All in” shows Darrell Steinberg’s commitment to the city? No, it shows he’ll do anything to keep his snoot in the government trough.
After years at the state trough, he wants part of the city coffers, and I’d bet my entire retirement savings on the fact that the next trough is once again the state, with a run for the governorship.
Public service isn’t really public service anymore. It’s self-service. I only wish I lived in Sacramento so I could vote for Angelique Ashby.

Ashby’s lawsuit wastes money
Re “Ashby sues Steinberg, claims some campaign cash is illegal” (Page 3A, May 14): Sacramento City Councilwoman Angelique Ashby’s lawsuit against Darrell Steinberg will waste limited court and city resources.
There is case history to support Steinberg’s transfer of money. Even though the lawsuit is against Steinberg, the city will be called upon to respond and defend the city attorney’s decision to allow the transfer. Wasted time, money and effort, for what?
Let’s focus on issues that affect the daily lives of Sacramentans – jobs, housing, health care and safety – and get away from this mudslinging.
