A haiku ring for the Giants
Fall’s the best season
When the games mean more, we pay
Closer attention.
Poet, counting out
Iambic championships –
Every other year,
Dreams Ishikawa
Always coming home in that
San Francisco night.
In this harsh world of
Free agency, climate change,
Panda’s farewell looms.
Leaves fall by the bay
Elders hear soft rain, recall
Willie McCovey.
Seventh-game victory
Needs extra syllable:
Madison Bumgarner.
Ten, twelve, now fourteen
Flag will fly in western wind:
Seasons we can keep.
Coda
Oscar Taveras –
Cardinal’s flight helps us see
We’re just kids, playing.
