‘Dark Side of the Moon’ experience celebrates Pink Floyd album at Sacramento science museum

Pink Floyd’s iconic album “The Dark Side Of The Moon” turns 50, and what is a more fitting place to celebrate it than in a planetarium?
SMUD’s Museum of Science and Curiosity is paying tribute to the anniversary by hosting a dome show. The shows will occur on various nights into early September.
With the help of modern technology, the music will be set to visuals of breathtaking views of the solar system and beyond. The whole album will be played out in surround sound, according to the museum’s website.
Each song will have a different theme. Some will be futuristic and others a retro acknowledgment to Pink Floyd’s history. All songs will relate to a time and space experience and be displayed by technology that only a planetarium can offer.
This “immersive and all-encompassing surround sound and visual treat” will take longtime Pink Floyd fans and science enthusiasts beyond the realms of 2D experience, according to the museum.
The current dates for the event are sold out, but MOSAC officials say future dates are expected to be announced soon.
The experience may be inappropriate for children under 13 and is not recommended for guests who are highly sensitive to light, motion and noise, according to the museum’s website.
