Prep football: Hughes Stadium to host playoff game

Hughes Stadium at Sacramento City College was a fixture for decades in the Sac-Joaquin Section playoffs, including City Championship games that drew close to 20,000 fans. After not hosting a playoff game between local teams for 11 years, it will be the site of Friday’s Division III contest between Christian Brothers and Cordova.

Republic FC: Labor unions oppose MLS stadium plan

The Sacramento Central Labor Council and Local 49 say Republic FC should allow food-service workers to unionize at a proposed stadium. The City Council is scheduled to vote Thursday on an environmental impact report for the railyard – including a soccer stadium.
