Sacramento’s Hitchings wins age group at Boston Marathon

Jenny Hitchings of Sacramento won the women’s 50-54 age group Monday at the Boston Marathon.

Hitchings, a member of the Sacramento Running Association’s Elite Team, finished in 2 hours, 52 minutes and 51 seconds.

Hitchings, 51, who finished more than three minutes ahead of runner-up Nina Ytterstad (2:56:03) of Norway, was 57th overall in the women’s race.

Charlie Brenneman, 37, of Rocklin was the top Sacramento-area finisher. Brenneman, another SRA member, was 120th among the men in 2:33.59.
