Sports Night: NFL draft is on the clock
NFL: Don’t mock this draft
Few events produce as much analysis, melodrama and hand-wringing as the NFL draft – before it even happens. Don’t worry, though. Matt Barrows, The Bee’s 49ers beat writer, has it covered. Check out his forecast of how Thursday’s first round will go.
Baseball: This just in – blisters hurt
Most of us can work through a minor injury such as a blister. But what if you pitch baseball for a living – like the A’s Jesse Hahn? Then blisters can be a serious problem and may require treatment. Some of those afflicted even turn to pickle juice.
Giants: Bumgarner outduels Kershaw
Madison Bumgarner pitches eight sharp innings in his fifth career matchup against Clayton Kershaw and batterymate Buster Posey homers, leading the Giants to a 2-1 victory over the Los Angeles Dodgers. Bumgarner is 3-1 lifetime against Kershaw.
A’s: Gray is sharp again
Sonny Gray strikes out six and walks one over eight impressive innings, Brett Lawrie hits a three-run homer in the first that holds up, and the A’s snap a season-high four-game losing streak with a 6-2 victory over the Los Angeles Angels.

Republic FC: Not threatenin’, just sayin’
Republic FC hopes today’s match against at Salt Lake City goes better than its 2-1 loss to Orange County on Friday. Coach Preki had this to say after what might have been the team’s worst performance in its short history: “We don’t accept complacency here. If they can’t do the job, then certain consequences have to happen. … That’s not threatening somebody. It’s just a reminder in this type of business we are entertainers, and we are judged on our winning and losing.”
