Coach Guy Anderson, 82, began his career at Cordova High School in 1963. After 52 years, including 45 as the varsity baseball coach, he was fired.
Sac State: Home improvement project
The Sacramento State men’s and women’s teams had breakthrough basketball seasons. The next step should be a new facility in which to play. School officials announce, while honoring the teams, the launch of a one-year grassroots fundraising campaign to help build the proposed 5,000-seat, $125 million facility. It would host sporting events, concerts, graduations, speakers and meetings.
NBA playoffs: Rose buzzer-beater gives Bulls 2-1 lead
Derrick Rose banks in a three-pointer at the buzzer and scores 30 points to give the Chicago Bulls a 99-96 victory over the Cleveland Cavaliers and a 2-1 lead in the Eastern Conference semifinals.
