Sports Night: Seventh(-inning) heaven? Not for A’s
A’s: Beware the seventh inning
Entering Saturday night’s game against the Chicago White Sox, the A’s had allowed 35 runs – 30 of them earned – in the seventh inning. Oakland’s beleaguered bullpen gives up two more runs – yes, in the seventh inning – in a 4-3 defeat.
Giants: Crawford slams, Pence returns
The good news: Brandon Crawford hits a grand slam and drives in a career-high six runs in the Giants’ 11-2 victory over the Cincinnati Reds. The better news: Hunter Pence scores three times in his return from a broken forearm. The defending World Series champions hope their offense gets a boost from Pence’s return.
River Cats: Just what is an Isotope?
For some folks’ money, an inside-the-park home run might be the best play in baseball. Darren Ford’s didn’t do the River Cats much good, though, in a 6-4 loss to the host Albuquerque Isotopes 6-4.
