UC Davis star Morgan Bertsch is drafted into the WNBA; see which team picked her
Morgan Bertsch majored in biomedical engineering at UC Davis. She also excelled on the basketball court.
Bertsch capped her record-breaking, award-filled college career with Big West Conference regular-season and tournament championships and a berth in the NCAA Tournament.
But she may not be done with basketball just yet.
The 6-foot-4 forward from Santa Rosa had her name called in the WNBA Draft on Wednesday. Bertsch was selected by the Dallas Wings in the third round, with the 29th overall pick.
Bertsch averaged 23.6 points and 6 rebounds per game this season as the Aggies went 25-7 overall and 15-1 in the Big West.
She followed Notre game guard Arike Ogunbowale (first round, No. 5 overall), Iowa forward Megan Gustafson (second round, No. 17) and UCLA guard Kennedy Burke (second round, No. 22) as Wings picks.
Jackie Young, a guard from Notre Dame, was the No. 1 pick, by the Las Vegas Aces.
Forward Alanna Smith of Stanford went No. 8 overall to the Phoenix Mercury, and center/forward Kristine Anigwe of Cal was chosen ninth by the Connecticut Sun.
