Sac Republic FC suffers first loss of USL season against LA Galaxy ll

Sac Republic FC hit the road for the first time this season against LA Galaxy ll, looking to keep their undefeated season alive.

And in the first half of Saturday night’s game, the Republic looked in control. The team had chances to get on the board — highlighted by a pair of near makes by forward Dariusz Formella to close the half.

In the second half, Galaxy ll forward Augustine Williams scored off a free kick in the 72nd minute that bounced around in the box. It would go on to be the lone goal of the evening and a 1-0 Galaxy win.

Sacramento (1-2-1) finished the game with five shots on target on 21 total shots., while Galaxy ll had four shots on target off eight shots. Los Angeles controlled the time of possession 56 percent to 44 percent.

Fifteen-year-old Rafael Jauregui made his second appearance of the United Soccer League season in the 78th minute, a week after becoming the youngest player in the club’s history to appear in a USL match.

The Republic return home to Sacramento Wednesday for an 8 p.m. kickoff against Orange County FC.
