See the statue of Kobe Bryant, daughter placed at crash site on two-year anniversary

A statue of Kobe and Gianna Bryant was placed on Wednesday at the site of a helicopter crash in which the NBA legend, his daughter, and seven others were killed in 2020.

Fans visited the statue, which will remain there temporarily, to pay their respects and mark two years since the fatal crash.

The statue was created by artist Dan Medina. It shows the two looking at each other with big smiles. A plaque below the statue has the names of the seven other victims — John Altobelli, his wife, Keri, and their daughter Alyssa; Christina Mauser; Sarah Chester and her daughter Payton; and pilot Ara Zobayan — inscribed on it.

“It’s been two years,” Medina wrote on Instagram, adding: “Rest in peace.”
