Fire beat Law 7-3 Saturday afternoon in the 48th annual Guns & Hoses football game. It’s one of the lowest-scoring games in the history of the charity game between fire department personnel and police.

The Fire team snapped a five-game losing streak with the win.

”The players and coaching staff deserve all the credit for this win,” said first-year Fire coach Rob Swonger in a news release. “The team overcame numerous obstacles and came together at the right time. I could not be more proud of this group.”

Because of the coronavirus pandemic, the two teams hadn’t played tackle football since 2020. Last year, the two sides played flag football. The game supports several charities, including Make-A-Wish Central California, Sacramento Sheriff’s Toy Project and the Firefighter Burn Institute.
