Tahoe-area ski resorts have next year’s season passes on sale. What’s the best deal?

Tahoe-area ski resorts have announced their pass prices for the 2022-23 season.

While the Ikon Pass lets you ski at 14 resorts including Palisades and Alpine Meadows, there are better deals out there for you.

Here are some of the best deals on season passes in the area:

Vail

Heavenly Mountain Resorts: 3860 Saddle Road, South Lake Tahoe

Vail Resorts announced prices for next season’s ski passes Monday, which remain to be significantly cheaper than comparable options like the Ikon Pass.

The Epic Pass will be $841 for the next ski season, granting skiers access to 40 resorts across the world including Heavenly, Kirkwood and Northstar in the Tahoe area. The local pass, which gives skiers access only to resorts in North America, is even cheaper at $626.

Meanwhile, rival Ikon Pass launched its main pass at $1,047 for access to around 50 ski resorts, at least $200 more expensive than the Epic Pass.

Palisades

1960 Olympic Valley Rd, Olympic Valley

If you’re not ready to commit to next season, Palisades has an option to get on the spring snow, but the price is still fairly steep. The spring ticket trio is a shareable pack of three tickets for friends or family at an overall cost of $359. Per ticket, the rate comes down to just less than $120.

Sugar Bowl

629 Sugar Bowl Road, Norden

Privately owned Sugar Bowl Resort in Norden, which is only an hour and a half away from Sacramento, has affordable pass options for those wanting to ski at any level.

The slightly restricted pass, available seven days a week except for on holidays, starts at $869 for the 2022-23 season for adults over 23. The young adult pass, for ages 13 to 22, is $749.

Tahoe Donner

11603 Snowpeak Way, Truckee

Downhill ski passes for next season at Tahoe Donner launch at $527 for adults, while the combination cross country and downhill ski pass starts at $740.

Season passes for the nearby resort are also currently on sale, according to the website, available for the rest of the current season and next.

Homewood Mountain Resort

5145 W Lake Blvd, Homewood

Homewood, located west of Lake Tahoe, offers passes for the 2022-23 season at $749 for skiers new to the resort and $699 for returning passholders and locals in the area.

In addition, the resort also offers a family pass for returning guests at $1,499 and new ones at $1,999 for a family of two adults and two children below the age of 18.
