Sports Night: Rondo, Belinelli to join Kings
Kings: Belinelli, Rondo agree to deals
The Kings had three top targets when free agency began, and they finally land one in point guard Rajon Rondo. Make no mistake, Rondo wasn’t brought in for his scoring. He’s a facilitator. Former Spur Marco Belinelli, however, is a shooter. He has a career 39.2 percentage beyond the arc. The Kings shot 34.1 percent from three-point range last season.
Leading Off: Kings panned for 76ers deal
If you’ve Googled the Kings recently, you know they’ve been in the news. Most of the reports haven’t been true, at least not yet. Unfortunately, the Kings’ trade with Philadelphia is a real deal, and most consider it a bad one.
A’s: Mariners’ five-run eighth hurts
Brad Miller and Nelson Cruz launch two-run homers in Seattle’s game-deciding rally in the eighth inning, and a sellout crowd in Oakland watches its team fall 9-5. The Mariners hit four home runs, and the A’s make two more errors, but there was a postgame firework display.
Giants: Peavy’s return can’t stop skid
Not even Jake Peavy’s strong return and another home run by Buster Posey, his 14th, are enough to keep the Giants from losing their fourth game in a row. The Nationals do just enough in a 2-1 win over visiting San Francisco.

Side by side: Who should be the A.L.’s All-Star catcher?
The Bee’s Matt Kawahara compares catchers Stephen Vogt of the A’s and Salvador Perez of the Royals. Whom do you want as an All-Star? A guy who sprays himself with perfume before every game, or a guy who can do a dead-on impression of Matt Foley, everyone’s favorite guy living in a van down by the river?
River Cats: Bees sting Sacramento in ninth inning
Salt Lake scores six runs in the ninth in a 7-1 win Friday night, and the Bees stop the River Cats’ winning streak at four games before a sellout crowd announced at 14,120 at Raley Field. The Cats begin a four-game series in Reno on Saturday.
