Here’s how to watch Ironman California athletes compete in Sacramento this weekend

Ironman California is coming to Sacramento this Sunday.

You’ll get front row seats to watch top athletes take on the rigorous Sacramento triathlon course that includes swimming, biking and running.

We have gathered where to watch racers cross the finish line and viewpoints throughout the course:

This year, Ironman will not be live broadcasting the entire race. Instead, there will be a camera that will live stream racers as they cross the finish line. The Facebook Live is expected to go live at 2 p.m. on race day.

Ironman California is a 140.6 mile journey that is broken up into a swim, cycle and running race. According to its website, here is where you can watch the race on Sunday and how to get there:

Swim

To kick off Ironman California, racers will start with a 2.4-mile swim starting near the confluence of the American and Sacramento rivers downtown. The race has a rolling start to stagger participants and gets started at 7 a.m. You can watch all competitors kick off the event at Township 9 Park. However, there is limited viewing at the start of the race which is why it is probably best to head to Tower Bridge where you watch racers finish their swim and run over to their bikes.

There will be a spectator shuttle bus that will drive people from 400 Ballpark Dr. in West Sacramento. The bus will start taking people to the swim start at 5:30 a.m. Though you don’t need a ticket to board the shuttle, priority will be given to athletes competing in the race. The shuttle will begin trips back to the shuttle location at 8 a.m. from Tower Bridge.

Bike

For the second part of the race, participants will need to bike through 112 miles of the Sacramento River delta region. The racers will loop through the course twice, starting and ending at Ballpark Drive at Riverfront Street.

You can head to Clarksburg and the Old Sugar Mill to enjoy a glass of wine while you watch competitors loop through the bike trail. If you do opt for wine, take the I-5 south to avoid lane closures.

Run

For the last part of the race, participants will need to complete a marathon. The race will start at Riverfront Street and end at the Capitol Mall. Both the start and end of the track are good places to watch participants. There will also be water stations positioned throughout the course, which would also be a good place to cheer participants on.

Spectator shuttle buses will be leaving 400 Ballpark Dr. West Sacramento at 11 a.m. and dropping people off at the Capitol Mall to cheer people on at the finish line.

For a full map of the course you can head to the Ironman website.
