Who will be Las Vegas Raiders quarterback for the 2023 NFL season? Here are latest odds
A big decision awaits the Las Vegas Raiders.
Will the Raiders keep Derek Carr, thus guaranteeing his $42 million contract by Feb. 15?
It doesn’t look like it, thus ending Carr’s nine-year career with the Silver and Black.
If it’s not Carr, then who? Offshore betting sites have released their odds on who will be the Raiders’ next quarterback.
USBettingReport.com listed its odds and say Green Bay Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers has a 12.5% chance in joining the Raiders while a return to the Packers is 27%.
Sportsbetting.ag list the Raiders as the favorite to land Rodgers. Those odds are 4-1 with the Colts and Jets at 5-1. Other teams include the San Francisco 49ers at 8-1.
However, the same offshore betting site lists Tom Brady as the Raiders’ Week 1 starter with odds at 3-1, followed by Jimmy Garoppolo at 4-1 and Rodgers at 6-1
Incoming rookies Anthony Richardson (9-1), CJ Stroud (10-1), Will Levis (10-1) and Bryce Young (11-1) are listed.
Lamar Jackson is listed at 12-1.
Carr is listed as 3-1 to be the New York Jets’ Week 1 starter.
The Bee will look at the Raiders’ quarterback situation in the coming weeks, but Carr has a no-trade clause, meaning he can pick his next destination if he desires to exercise that. Las Vegas can outright release him, too.
Rodgers walked off the field following the Packers’ 20-16 loss to the Detroit Lions with his arms over teammate Randall Cobb’s shoulder.
Rodgers didn’t indicate he was retiring or that he wants out of Green Bay, but he did mention former teammate Davante Adams in the postgame press conference when asked if he still has it in him to be a quality quarterback at 39-years-old.
“I feel like obviously losing Davante (Adams) was a big deal, but we didn’t fill that void, and I mean nobody can,” Rodgers said of the Raiders receiver.
“He’s superhuman, he’s phenomenal, but there was hope in certain things that was going to fill that void, and ultimately that just didn’t happen. The things that we were able to do, I think may have been taken for granted at times because we were able to create so many different things in the moment over the years, and especially over the last couple of years because not much really changed other than his absence from the lineup. Obviously, Marquez (Valdes-Scantling) not being here and some other pieces on the line, but I think that there’s a lot of good, young talent.”
