Dream loses its inaugural World TeamTennis match

The California Dream lost its inaugural World TeamTennis match, 24-19 to the host San Diego Aviators on Sunday night.

The teams were tied 9-9 after the first two sets, but San Diego’s James Blake and Raven Klaasen beat Tennys Sandgren and Neal Skupski 5-2 in men’s doubles to give the Aviators a 14-11 lead at intermission. San Diego then won 5-4 in mixed doubles and women’s doubles.

The Dream will play its home opener on Monday at 7:30 p.m. at Sunrise Mall against the Springfield Lasers (0-1).
