Sacramento Republic FC has an event for those who want to take advantage of the weather before it reaches triple digits this summer while enjoying some soccer and an assortment of beers.

The team on Saturday is hosting its first-ever Brewfest before and during its match against regional rival Monterey Bay FC at Heart Health Park. The team says some 20 breweries will be there serving beer, ciders and seltzers, and those with access will have unlimited tastings.

Brewfest tickets, for those 21 and older, include a ticket for the match against Monterey. Those with preexisting tickets to the game can call the team’s ticket office at 916-307-6100 to get access to Brewest. The team is selling tickets through its website for $65. The Brewfest starts at 5:30 p.m. in an area just north of the stadium and runs until 8:30, or 30 minutes into the match. Fans will have in-and-out privileges.

On the field, Republic FC recently dropped to second place in the USL Championship’s Western Conference, though it is tied with first-place El Paso with 29 points. Sacramento has the best goal differential in the league at plus-18. El Paso is plus-eight.

Republic FC has not lost a league match at home this season and considers its home field advantage — with the Tower Bridge Battalion populating the north grandstands — among the best in the USL.

“I hope our fans drink a lot of beer beforehand,” manager Mark Briggs said this week. “Not too many, so they’re all healthy and safe. But I hope they have a few beers and that brightens up their spirits even more and the atmosphere’s a little more volatile towards the opponent.

“So go drink your beers, celebrate, get behind the team and hopefully celebrate a big win.”

Saturday will be Republic FC’s first home match since beating the Oakland Roots on May 20. The team played three straight games on the road, beating Hartford Athletic (4-1) and netting 1-1 ties against the Tampa Bay Rowdies and San Diego Loyal SC.
