Where to get tickets and how to watch Sacramento Republic playoff game against San Antonio

Top-seeded Sacramento Republic FC is squaring off against defending champion San Antonio FC in a pivotal win-or-go home playoff game 7:30 p.m. Friday at Heart Health Park at Cal Expo.

It’s a clash of two of the best sides in the USL Championship Western Conference with the winner advancing to the conference finals.

A victory for Sacramento would mean hosting the winner of Orange County SC and Phoenix Rising, and a victory there would mean hosting the final against the Eastern Conference champion Nov. 12 because Sacramento has the best record of the remaining teams in the playoffs.

How to watch

Friday’s match will be broadcast live on ESPN+, FOX40.com, the FOX40 News mobile app and Antenna TV 40.2.

There is no official watch party as the team is encouraging fans to attend the game at Heart Health Park at Cal Expo. Tickets are available at the team’s website and are ranging from $21 to $200.

Republic hopes to make history

Republic FC entered the season with expectations to compete for its second USL Championship since its inaugural season in 2014. The team added quality on the attacking side with Russell Cicerone, Arnold Lopez and Juan Sebastian Herrera in the offseason, hoping to add scoring to an already-strong defense.

The team finished the regular season as the top side in the Western Conference with 64 points but finished second in the USL to the Pittsburgh River Hounds SC, the top seed in the East, which lost in the opening round of the postseason last weekend.

Stalwart midfielder Rodrigo Lopez missed a chunk of the campaign with a thigh injury but has returned, and assisted on the game-deciding goal in the 1-0 victory over New Mexico on Saturday in the opening round of the playoffs. Lopez, Sacramento’s first ever signing, was on the championship team in 2014 and is eager to bring another trophy back to the club.
