Baseball fans in Sacramento have new way to stream A’s and Giants games. Here’s how

Baseball fans in California’s capital region will have a new way to watch their local teams during the upcoming season, including the Athletics during their first season in West Sacramento.

Major League Baseball and NBC Sports Regional Networks on Wednesday announced a new direct-to-consumer streaming option that allows fans in the Northern California market to watch A’s and Giants games without needing a live television provider. The subscription will be through MLB.TV and Peacock, and it will effectively eliminate local blackouts for fans, the MLB news release said.

Those who do subscribe to a traditional TV service will still be able to watch A’s and Giants games on NBC Sports Bay Area and NBC Sports California.

The announcement came after NBC Sports and Peacock announced an in-market streaming option Tuesday, which included NBC Sports California, which means Kings and Sharks fans will be able to stream live games along with pre- and postgame shows on Peacock without needing to subscribe to a television provider.

The baseball package, which was also announced for the Philadelphia market, will cost $19.99 monthly and can be bundled with MLB.TV’s access to out of market games for $39.99 per month.

According to the news release, there have been 13 markets that have a direct-to-consumer streaming option created during this offseason. MLB.TV last year set a new high of 14.5 billion minutes watched on its platform, a 14% jump from 2023, the league said.
