Stephen Curry looks to defend celebrity golf title in Tahoe. Who will he face?

One of the biggest stars in sports will be back competing in Lake Tahoe’s annual celebrity golf tournament this summer.

Golden State Warriors guard Stephen Curry will return to the American Century Championship, the tournament announced Tuesday. Curry won the event in 2023 and was unable to defend his title last year while he helped Team USA capture a gold medal at the Paris Olympics.

Curry will be joined by his father Dell and brother Seth in the celebrity field competing in the Modified Stableford format at the Edgewood Tahoe Golf Course near South Lake Tahoe. The tournament runs from July 11-13 and drew 77,000 fans last year.

Curry two summers ago edged out former tennis star Mardy Fish, in a wire-to-wire win, with an eagle on the 18th hole, capping a highlight-filled tournament for Curry that included a hole-in-one on the 152-yard seventh hole during the second round.

Fish won the 2024 tournament with 84 points over former San Jose Sharks star Joe Pavelski and LPGA legend Annika Sorenstam.

Curry will likely be one of the tournament’s biggest draws, along with Travis Kelce and his brother Jason (and the throngs of Taylor Swift fans who will follow), Charles Barkley, Josh Allen, Jerry Rice, Steve Young, Charles Woodson, Albert Pujols and others.

49ers fans will have the opportunity to follow fullback Kyle Juszczyk for the second consecutive year while All-Pro tight end George Kittle will be making his tournament debut.

Perhaps the most enduring image of the American Century Championship is the party scene at the picturesque, par 3 17th hole that runs along the shore of Lake Tahoe, with boats and spectators clad in bathing suits lining the beach looking for autographs.

Tickets are available on the tournament’s website and run $50 per day during the tournament. Grounds badges for go $150 and allow access Wednesday through Sunday, which includes Pro-Am days on Wednesday and Thursday.
