Harlem Globetrotters to celebrate 100 years at Sacramento show. How to get tickets

The Harlem Globetrotters will bring their 100th anniversary world tour to Sacramento early next year as part of a global celebration marking a century of basketball entertainment.

The Globetrotters are scheduled to perform at Golden 1 Center on Jan. 19 as part of the team’s “100 Year” tour, which begins in December and includes more than 200 U.S. cities and 125 international markets.

Known for blending athleticism, comedy and showmanship, the Globetrotters have long been ambassadors of basketball, showcasing trick shots, gravity-defying dunks and family-friendly entertainment.

As part of the centennial celebration, the team will debut a special 100-year jersey that honors their legacy and impact on the game.

Harlem Globetrotters and Herschend Entertainment Studios president Keith Dawkins said in a news release that he wanted to make sure this year’s tour included something for everyone.

“From the families and fans that turn out in the thousands every year to those young people just experiencing the work our amazing and talented athletes are doing for the first time,” Dawkins said. “The result will be a basketball and entertainment experience like no other, a literal once in a century event for all to enjoy.”

The Globetrotters are also expected to return to Sacramento in 2026 for a matchup with their perennial rivals, the Washington Generals.

Who are the Globetrotters?

Since 1926, the Globetrotters have influenced basketball culture through their performances and social contributions. They are members of the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame and have played in over 120 countries.

The team’s history includes trailblazers such as Nat “Sweetwater” Clifton, one of the first Black players to sign with the NBA; Wilt Chamberlain, who briefly played with the Globetrotters before joining the league; and Connie Hawkins, who toured with the team before the ABA-NBA merger. Longtime fan favorites Curly Neal and Meadowlark Lemon helped elevate the Globetrotters’ international appeal.

Sweet Lou Dunbar, a former player, now coaches the team alongside his son, Sweet Lou II.
