McClatchy defeats West Park in showdown of top Sacramento-area flag football teams
In a clash between The Bee’s top-ranked teams, the No. 1 McClatchy Lions defeated the West Park Panthers, 19-13.
The 13-1 Lions will next travel to the Battle at the Beach tournament to play Southern California power Huntington Beach. West Park, now 9-3, will play undefeated Antelope.
McClatchy quarterback Daisy Throckmorton credited her teammates for the win.
“That was not my game at all,” she said. “My receivers, my defense, had a heck of a game.”
League rivals McClatchy and West Park will meet again in Roseville on Oct 14.
