Sacramento fans watched the pros play pickleball this weekend at Life Time Arden.

The women’s singles final drew extra attention as former Wimbledon tennis finalist Eugenie “Genie” Bouchard went on an impressive run at the Carvana PPA Tour event.

Competing in her first PPA Tour medal match, Bouchard faced world No. 2 Kate Fahey in the final. Fahey proved too steady, capturing the gold.

The men’s singles final saw world No. 2 Federico Staksrud defeat Gabe Joseph.

The pros battled for gold using traditional wooden paddles. Straksrud said it favored his foundational style.

“There’s a little more cat-and-mouse, which I feel comfortable with because that’s kind of what I did at the beginning of my career,” Staksrud said in a news release. “Now with the paddle technology and everything getting faster, it just gets tougher and tougher to do that, but I was able to find that in my game today.”

Genie Bouchard, earned her first career medal on the Carvana PPA Tour, falling short of the gold to World No.2 Kate Fahey in Sacramento on Sept. 27, 2025 at Lifetime Arden.
