Hill poured in 34 points in the win, with Nyk Lewis adding 16 points, seven rebounds, and three steals, and Lazar Djokovic scoring 15 points.

Illinois erupted for 65 points in the second half to leave No. 14 seed Penn in the dust on the way to a 105-70 first-round win on Thursday night. Kylan Boswell scored 13 points while Tomislav Ivisic and Ben Humrichous each dropped 12. The Illini shot 63.6% in the second half, a sharp contrast from 39.0% accuracy in the opening 20 minutes.
