A’s next 6 West Sacramento weekend games offer big giveaways. What you can get?

Baseball season’s heating up, and so is Sacramento.

Near-perfect ballgame weather in the forecast this weekend will coincide with some of the Athletics’ most highly anticipated giveaways at West Sacramento’s Sutter Health Park.

The A’s, who entered Friday with a 10-9 record, tied for first place in the American League West, will give away a bobblehead of star first baseman Nick Kurtz to fans who arrive early for Friday’s 6:40 p.m. game against the Chicago White Sox, while supplies last.

Kurtz last year won the American League Rookie of the Year award by unanimous vote and hit 36 home runs. He also hit four home runs in a single game, becoming the 20th Major League Baseball player and the first rookie to do so.

Kurtz, who turned 23 in March ahead of his second season, was born in Lancaster, Pennsylvania. As a result, he has embraced the nickname “Big Amish,” a reference to that region’s Amish population.

The bobblehead features a cartoon likeness of Kurtz churning butter. Kurtz mimes the motion to celebrate home runs.

A potential storm system set to arrive early next week may bring thunderstorms to Northern California. Before then, Sacramento is forecast to reach afternoon highs in the 70s, according to the National Weather Service. The region is expected to see mostly sunny skies and light wind.

That should create ideal spring baseball conditions as the A’s follow Friday night’s game with two day games at 1:05 p.m. Saturday and Sunday. Both days will include fan giveaways, as will all three games of the A’s next home weekend series, May 1-3, against the Cleveland Guardians. Start times mirror this weekend: 6:40 p.m. May 1 and 1:05 p.m. May 2 and May 3.

Last season, the A’s did not officially brand themselves as Sacramento or West Sacramento for 2025 — their first of three seasons playing at Sutter Health Park between their 57-year stay in Oakland and a planned move to Las Vegas in 2028.

The team this season introduced “Sacramento Saturdays,” featuring city-themed giveaways at each Saturday home game.

For their second home game of the season, the A’s gave out gold jerseys with “Sacramento” on the front, which the team also is wearing as alternate home uniforms on Saturdays. This Saturday’s giveaway is a “Sacramento” script baseball cap.
