Following the New York Giants' selection of pass-rusher Arvell Reese with the No. 5 pick, Adam Schefter of ESPN reported that the team was not planning to trade defensive end Kayvon Thibodeaux.
There have been rumors that the Giants have an interest in trading Thibodeaux this offseason.

On Friday, NFL insider Jordan Schultz reported that the Giants had trade conversations involving the defensive end and that the New Orleans Saints were interested in Thibodeaux.
“Sources: The Giants have engaged in trade conversations involving DE Kayvon Thibodeaux, and the Saints are among the teams showing strong interest,” Schultz posted on X. “If a deal happens, it could be as soon as tonight. Giants have been open to listening.”
After Schultz’s report, Giants general manager Joe Schoen said there was not truth to the report that the team was looking to shop Thibodeaux. Schefter doubled down that New York was not planning to make a trade.
The Saints appear to be off the board for the Giants on Monday after they traded for a pass-rusher.
Per Ian Rapoport of the NFL Network, the Saints traded with the Las Vegas Raiders for edge Tyree Wilson. Saints general manager Mickey Loomis is calling 2026 a “one-year trial” for Wilson.
The Giants will have Thibodeaux for OTAs. While New York could eventually find another trade suitor for the defensive end, new head coach John Harbaugh and defensive coordinator Dennard Wilson will be able to try out new combinations on the defensive line with Reese, Thibodeaux, Brian Burns and Abdul Carter.
The Giants are expected to try Reese out as an off-the-ball linebacker during early downs while having the ability to put him on the line for passing downs.
Edge should be a strength for New York in the upcoming season. It is possible the Giants could decide to change their mind on trading Thibodeaux after the coaching staff watches the new combination in practice.
