Patriots Encouraged to Trade Drake Maye Target Before 2026 Season
The New England Patriots made it to the Super Bowl, but as soon as the action started, it was pretty obvious that the Seattle Seahawks were going to win this one. Now, head coach Mike Vrabel is tasked with the job of getting the team back to the big game to hopefully win this time.
Even though the Pats are strong, the team is making changes going into the new season, and one could involve another trade.
Moe Moton of Bleacher Report has published a new piece where he names one blockbuster trade each franchise should make before the 2026 season starts. “We could get more transactional fireworks this summer,” he states, “or at least see moves that we expected teams to make, like the Brown deal, before final roster cuts on August 30.”

For the Patriots, he wants them to trade wide receiver Kayshon Boutte.
“Quarterback Drake Maye won’t have many targets to spread around after Brown, newly acquired wideout Romeo Doubs and tight end Hunter Henry get their looks in the passing game,” he states in the piece.
He adds: “With Brown on the roster, Boutte is a No. 3 wide receiver at best. He’s unlikely to build on a solid 2025 campaign, in which he caught 33 passes for 551 yards and a career-high six touchdowns.”

Going into a contract year with receiving numbers that look good, multiple teams could be interested in Boutte, so it could be a hot time to trade this player and get something good in return.
