Dallas Cowboys Player Charles Snowden Suspended For First 3 Games Of 2026 Season

The Dallas Cowboys will begin the 2026 season without one of their offseason additions.

According to the league's wire, the NFL suspended Charles Snowden for the first three games of the upcoming season. The pass rusher can participate in preseason activities and games, with the suspension taking effect after the final rosters are reduced to 53 players.

Snowden's suspension is related to a DUI arrest in 2024. Then a member of the Las Vegas Raiders, he pleaded no contest to a misdemeanor DUI charge that can be reduced to reckless driving if he pays a $1,000 fine and attends driver's courses.

The Chicago Bears signed Snowden as an undrafted free agent in 2021 after four seasons at Virginia. Snowden tallied 21 tackles for loss in his final two years with the Cavaliers.

After playing six defensive snaps in two games as a rookie, Snowden waited two years to see NFL action again. The 6-foot-6, 250-pounder recorded 39 tackles, seven quarterback hits, and 1.5 sacks for the Raiders in 2024.

Snowden made nine starts for the second consecutive season in 2025, registering three sacks and an interception. He collected two of those sacks in his last game, a Week 18 win over the Kansas City Chiefs.

The Cowboys signed Snowden to a one-year, $1.075 million contract in June after he tried out for them during mandatory minicamp. He'll look to carve out a role on a new-look defense after Dallas relinquished 377.0 yards per game last season. Dallas made several impact additions on defense this offseason. Following consecutive seven-win campaigns, the Cowboys acquired edge rusher Rashan Gary from the Green Bay Packers and signed free-agent safety Jalen Thompson. They also drafted safety Caleb Downs and pass rusher Malachi Lawrence in the opening round after hiring Christian Parker as the youngest defensive coordinator in program history.

Snowden won't be eligible for September games against the New York Giants, Washington Commanders, and Baltimore Ravens. He's eligible to return for a Week 4 road game against the Houston Texans on Sunday, Oct. 4.
