Colin Kaepernick is done for this season – and perhaps for his career. The 49ers have put him on injured reserve with an injury to his left, non-throwing shoulder that could require surgery early next week.

C.J. Spencer, a UC Davis redshirt freshman quarterback from Inderkum High School, throws for a career-high 312 yards and three touchdowns and also ran for a score to help lead his team to a 35-21 win over Sacramento State in the Causeway Classic.

College football: Stanford wins Big Game

Christian McCaffrey runs around and through the Cal defense on a 49-yard touchdown catch and also scores on a 98-yard kickoff return to help No. 15 Stanford clinch a spot in the Pac-12 championship game by winning the Big Game 35-22 on Saturday night.

Kings: Cousins’ big night sparks first road win

DeMarcus Cousins returns to action following a one-game suspension and produces 29 points and 12 rebounds as the Kings defeat the Orlando Magic 97-91 for their first road win of the season. The Kings have two games left on their five-game trip.
