Sports Night: You better believe it – Del Oro is a state champion

Prep football: Golden Eagles beat Camarillo 16-13 for state title

A 2-6 record in October? No worries. Rain at Hornet Stadium? You’ve got to be kidding. The Del Oro Golden Eagles defeat previously unbeaten Camarillo of Ventura County 16-13 to win the most improbable of championships, this one in the CIF State Division II-AA title game. It is a result most didn’t dare forecast a month ago.

Andy Furillo: Never a doubt for Del Oro

Del Oro holds a squad that had been averaging 53 points a game to just a single touchdown and departs Hornet Stadium with a win over Camarillo – a piece of cake for the boys from Loomis. Was it ever in doubt for the 9-6 Golden Eagles against the 15-0 Scorpions? “Never,” says Del Oro coach Casey Taylor.

Kings: They lay an egg in loss to Timberwolves

The Kings start a four-game trip by quickly falling behind by 14 points and have their late rally thwarted by the brilliant play of Andrew Wiggins (32 points, 10 rebounds, six assists) in a 99-95 loss to Minnesota on Friday.

49ers: Tomsula expresses faith in offensive coordinator

The 49ers rank last in the NFL in yards gained and points scored this season. Still, offensive coordinator Geep Chryst is doing a “nice job,” says coach Jim Tomsula.
