Hometown report: Late Jim Loscutoff played fiercely

Jim Loscutoff, who died Dec. 1 at 85, was the most accomplished yet overlooked basketball figure with Sacramento ties. His toughness was on display as a member of the Boston Celtics for all nine years of his career.

Prep notes: TV coverage dampens state bowl attendance

Television coverage and wintry weather produced the fourth-lowest attendance total in the 10-year history of the CIF Bowl Championships. Only an announced 14,626 fans showed up for the two days of games at Sacramento State’s Hornet Stadium.
