La Salle Club baseball Hall of Fame to induct nine in class of 2016

The La Salle Club will hold its 62nd Baseball Hall of Fame induction dinner Saturday at Christian Brothers High School. Cocktails begin at 5 p.m. and dinner at 6:30.

The Class of 2016 includes Mark Loper (La Sierra High School, American River College); Gary Darling (Burbank, major-league umpire for 28 years); Randy Brown (McClatchy, Sacramento City College, five seasons in pro ball); Doug Carson (Bishop Armstrong, Santa Clara, first area player selected in major-league amateur draft); Bill Walsh (Sacramento Solons); Lowell Palmer (Norte Del Rio, five-year major leaguer); Bill Plummer (Anderson Valley, 10-year major leaguer); Greg Sims (Sacramento High, Sac City, nine seasons in pro ball); and Don Semon (Bishop Armstrong, six minor-league seasons).
