Villanova’s Kris Jenkins coolly made a three-point shot as time expires to give the Wildcats a 77-74 win over North Carolina in the NCAA Tournament final in Houston. The victory gives Villanova its first national championship since 1985.

High school notes: Winters’ Jeff Ingles thrived in his comfort zone

Winters High baseball coach Jeff Ingles is the Northern Section’s winningest coach with 500 victories at his alma mater. He graduated from the school in 1980 and became its baseball coach eight years later. He’s been there ever since.
