Sports Night: Giants beat L.A. in series

Giants: Despite rough start, S.F. rallies past Dodgers

Johnny Cueto’s pitching line wasn’t pretty, but his Giants teammates rallied to make him a winner in his first home start at AT&T Park. Despite trailing 5-0 after a half inning, San Francisco beat the Los Angeles Dodgers 9-6 on Sunday to win the series 3-1.

Furillo: April feels like September for Giants

Somebody forgot to tell the Giants and Dodgers that it’s only April. The games were so good, so intense, you’d think the pennant was on the line. Wouldn’t it be great if they could play it off for the National League championship? It’s been only 54 years since the last time they did.

A’s: Crisp homers to help Oakland overcome Hernandez’s gem

A’s outfielder Coco Crisp hit a two-out homer in the 10th inning to help Oakland overcome a dominant outing by Seattle ace Felix Hernandez and beat the Mariners 2-1 Sunday to sweep the three-game series. Hernandez struck out 10 over seven scoreless innings, allowing three hits and two walks.

49ers: Team to host QB prospects Goff, Wentz

The top two quarterbacks in the NFL draft, Cal’s Jared Goff and North Dakota State’s Carson Wentz, will be in Santa Clara this week to visit the 49ers. Team officials, including coach Chip Kelly, already have taken close looks at the two passers. The question is whether either quarterback will reach the 49ers at pick No. 7 on April 28.

Republic: Sacramento plays to scoreless draw with Vancouver

Goalkeeper Dominik Jakubek made a big save in the 54th minute to help Republic FC to a 0-0 draw at the Vancouver Whitecaps FC 2 on Sunday, extending Sacramento’s USL season-opening scoreless streak to three games. Sacramento (2-0-1) is the only USL team that has yet to allow a goal this season.

Masters: Willett wins after Spieth’s collapse

Danny Willett in a green jacket was hard to believe considering he wasn’t even sure he would play the Masters two weeks ago. Jordan Spieth was even more stunned. Nine holes away from another wire-to-wire victory, the defending Masters champion threw it all away in a collapse around Amen Corner that was shocking even by Augusta National standards.
