Sports Night: Susac eyes Giants return

Furillo: River Cats’ Susac eyes return to majors

The River Cats gave out 1,500 T-shirts reading “Susacramento” on Friday in honor of hometown catcher Andrew Susac. But the Jesuit High School graduate can’t be totally enthralled, not when he’s dipped his toe in the waters of the major leagues, starting 55 games over two years for the Giants in relief of Buster Posey.

Giants: Crawford, Bumgarner key win over Rockies

Brandon Crawford hit a three-run homer, Madison Bumgarner survived a shaky second inning, and the Giants ended a three-game losing streak to Colorado, beating the Rockies 6-4 on Friday night. Bumgarner won his third consecutive start, retiring 15 of 17 after giving up all four runs in the second.

A’s: Game against Orioles postponed, rescheduled as twin bill

The Baltimore Orioles and the A’s will play a split doubleheader Saturday after Friday’s game was postponed by rain. Officials called off the game about a half-hour before the scheduled starting time.

Tim Lincecum sharp in showcase for big-league scouts

Two-time Cy Young Award winner Tim Lincecum picked up a ball, started his motion and let it fly as radar guns rose behind the plate. A series of camera clicks followed, then a pop of the glove. The 31-year-old right-hander mixed up his pitches and hit most of his spots during his showcase. He hopes to catch on with a big-league team soon, preferably as a starter.

Republic FC: Team seeks goals, victory against L.A. Galaxy II

The Los Angeles Galaxy II enters Saturday night’s USL match against visiting Republic FC as the Western Conference leader at 4-0-4 with a league-high 17 goals. 49ers: Burbridge says he can fill need at slot receiver

Aaron Burbridge had 85 catches for 1,258 yards and seven touchdowns for Michigan State last season, but it didn’t translate into a high draft pick. Twenty four receivers were taken before the 49ers selected him at the end of the sixth round, adding him to a deep but undistinguished group.
