Hungry and thirsty Atlanta Falcons fans are in for a pleasant surprise.

Hot dogs for $2. Soft drinks with unlimited free refills for the same price. Same goes for bottled water, pretzels and popcorn.

Peanuts, pizza and nachos for $3 each, and a 12-ounce domestic beer for $5.

Those are some unheard-of prices at a sports stadium, but that’s what fans will be paying at Mercedes-Benz Stadium when it opens in downtown Atlanta in 2017.

Those prices will apply at all events held at the venue, including home games for the Falcons and the 2017 MLS expansion Atlanta United, as well as the college football national championship game in 2018 and the NCAA men’s Final Four in 2020.

“We focused from the beginning on building a unique fan experience at Mercedes-Benz Stadium with a goal of helping those who visit to leave the stadium with great memories shared with family and friends, not aggravation and frustration about their experience,” Falcons and United owner Arthur M. Blank said.

“We have listened to the concerns of the fans on the food and beverage experience and have responded to those concerns in a way that honors our commitment to providing the best possible fan experience at our events.”

In addition, the stadium is looking to improve the fan experience by offering 670 points of sale for concessions, self-service soft drink refill stations away from concession stands and increased on-site cooking capacity.
