Sports Night: Cain snaps two droughts
Giants: Cain snaps winless drought, helps with bat against Cubs
Matt Cain’s second-inning double was his first hit in 46 at-bats, and the Giants right-hander also ended a more significant drought. Cain pitched six strong innings to earn his first win since last July, snapping a streak of 15 winless starts, in a 5-3 victory over the Chicago Cubs at AT&T Park.
A’s: Manaea loses focus in loss to Yankees
A’s rookie Sean Manaea is learning the hard way in his first season in the majors. The left-hander’s inability to stay focused during a four-run fourth inning proved costly during Oakland’s 5-1 home loss to the New York Yankees. “My main thing is to go deep into the game and take the pressure off the bullpen,” said Manaea, who pitched into the seventh inning.
