Horse sense: Sky Forever pays for both Arrington, Pajak

Bee staff writers and horse players Debbie Arrington and Steve Pajak have renewed their head-to-head bankroll battle during the State Fair. Each started with a hypothetical $500 for 10 racing days.

ARRINGTON SAYS

Friday: Won $40 when Sky Forever won the sixth race.

Bankroll: $597

Today: In the Governor’s Cup, ALWAZABRIDESMAID (eighth race) is ready to catch the winner’s bouquet. Making her stakes debut, this hard-trying filly is proven sprinting on dirt.

The bet: $20 win/place on Alwazabridesmaid, $2 exacta box Alwazabridesmaid, Cast in Silver and Charlie’s Angel.

Note to Steve: It’s tough to catch me when you’re betting on the same horse.

PAJAK SAYS

Friday: Won $56 when Sky Forever won the sixth race.

Bankroll: $424

Today: If PINEDA (fifth race) runs anything like his bang-up second in his last race, everyone else is running for second.

The bet: $50 win Pineda; $5 exacta box Pineda and The Gotham Year.

Note to Debbie: I can see you sweating.
