Public memorial set for UOP quarterback Eddie LeBaron

A public memorial service has been scheduled on Tuesday for the late University of Pacific quarterback Eddie LeBaron.

LeBaron, who also worked as a lawyer in Sacramento for nine years before retiring in 1997, died April 1 of natural causes. He was 85.

The service is set to begin at 11 a.m. at the Faye Spanos Concert Hall on the Stockton campus, according to a statement from the UOP athletic department.

The hall is located at Dave Brubeck Way and Pacific Avenue. The school also will provide shuttle service starting at 10:15 a.m. from a parking lot at Pershing and Alpine avenues.

LeBaron’s family has said that in lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Marine Corps Scholarship Foundation, or to UOP’s Pacific Athletic Foundation in support of student-athletes.

LeBaron was a College Football Hall of Fame quarterback who starred in 1949 when the school was known as College of the Pacific. He went on to play for 11 years in the National Football League for the Washington Redskins and the Dallas Cowboys.
