Sac State women capture Big Sky All-Sports Trophy

For the fifth time in eight years, Sacramento State has won the Big Sky Conference Women’s All-Sports Trophy. With the men placing fourth, Sac State finished second in the all-sports overall athletic points standings.

The Hornet women captured Big Sky championships in tennis and indoor and outdoor track and field and finished second in basketball, golf and softball.

Sac State’s women finished with 78 points. They were followed by Northern Arizona (73.5), Montana (60.5), Montana State (56.5) and Portland State (55.5) to round out the top five in the 12-member league. Sac State also won the Big Sky women’s all-sports championships in 2007-08, 2008-09, 2009-10 and 2011-12.

On the men’s side, the Hornets finished fourth with 51 points, less than a point out of third place and four points out of second place. Northern Arizona won the men’s title with 66.5 points, followed by Eastern Washington (55) and Montana State (51.66). Sac State had top three finishes in basketball and indoor and outdoor track.

Overall, combining the men’s and women’s points, Sacramento State finished with 129 points, scond to Northern Arizona’s 140.
