Local College Hoops: UCD men move to 3-0
Corey Hawkins scored 21 points to lead UC Davis in a 58-55 win over Furman on Saturday as the Aggies started 3-0 for the first time since the 1999-2000 season.
The score was tied 33-33 when the Aggies went on a 19-6 run to take command with 8:16 left.
Hawkins was 8 of 14 from the floor and made four three-pointers. Josh Fox contributed 11 points on 5-of-6 shooting for the Aggies.
Stephen Croone led the Paladins (1-2) with 15 points, and John Davis added 14.
Saint Mary’s women 57, UC Davis 55 in Davis – Lauren Nicholson scored with 1.8 seconds left to break a 55-55 tie and lift the visiting Gaels over the Aggies in the nonconference game at The Pavilion, UCD reported.
The Aggies (1-2) were led by Kelsey Harris, who was 5 of 7 from three-point range and scored 15 points. Alyson Doherty scored 14 points and blocked three shots.
The Gaels (1-1) were led by Shannon Mauldin’s game-high 18 points and Stella Beck’s 16 points.
