Video: Where Stanford’s Christian McCaffrey ranks as Heisman candidate
Stanford running back Christian McCaffrey’s Heisman buzz keeps growing, and this year could mark the end of quarterbacks’ reign over the trophy for college football’s best player.
Pac-12 Network analysts Matt Leinart and Curtis Conway both tout three running backs in their latest top 3 Heisman candidates, naming LSU’s Leonard Fournette and Alabama’s Derrick Henry with McCaffrey.
McCaffrey has been a threat as a runner, returner and receiver for the Cardinal. He has rushed for 1,060 yards and six touchdowns, caught 25 passes for 310 yards and two touchdowns and 559 yards on kick returns. Fournette (176 carries, 1,352 yards, 15 touchdowns) and Henry (180 carries, 1,044 yards, 14 touchdowns) square off Saturday in Tuscaloosa.
Stanford plays at Colorado on Saturday.
