Sacramento State signs guard from Modesto

Sacramento State signed guard George Dancer of Modesto’s Byer High School an NCAA letter of intent, the school announced Wednesday.

Dancer, a 6-foot-3, 185-pound senior, averaged 15.2 points, 5.2 assists and 5.1 rebounds last year to help lead the Patriots to a 24-5 record (11-3 in the Modesto Metro Conference) and the school’s first CIF Sac-Joaquin Section playoff win in a decade.

“We really like his skill set, and he’s what we look for in a guard – he can dribble, pass and shoot well," Sac State coach Brian Katz said in a statement. “Georgie has big shoulders and long arms and will eventually become a physical guard.”

Dancer is the third Stanislaus District player to commit to Sacramento State in the last year, joining Hornets freshmen Jeff Wu (Modesto Christian) and Joshua Patton (Sierra).
