UC Davis sophomore Pele Gianotti finished with a career-high 26 points, including seven three-pointers, and Alyson Doherty became the 17th Aggie to reach 1,000 career points, lifting the UCD women to a 78-71 overtime victory over Saint Mary’s on Thursday night in Moraga, UC Davis reported.
UC Davis earned its fifth consecutive victory, improving to 5-2. Celia Marfone added 17 points for the Aggies.
Saint Mary’s suffered its second straight loss, falling to 5-2. Lauren Nicholson scored 23 points and Devon Brookshire 20 for the Gaels.
In a contest that featured 15 lead changes and seven ties, Brookshire tied the score 61-61 with 2:24 to play in regulation. Both teams had chances to win it before the buzzer, the last snuffed out by a Doherty block on a three-point attempt by Hannah Kaser as time expired.
