Women’s basketball: Sacramento State, UC Davis lose one-possession games
In a tight game from the opening tip to the final buzzer, Hawaii evened its overall record with a 74-72 victory over Sacramento State on Sunday at the Nest, Sac State reported.
Ashlyn Crenshaw led the Hornets (2-7) with 16 points off the bench. Brianna Burgos scored 15 points, and Maranne Johnson scored 10.
Megan Huff scored 16 and Ashleigh Karaitiana 14 for the Rainbows (5-5).
Florida A&M 61, UC Davis 58 in Los Angeles – Freshman Morgan Bertsch collected her first career double double with 20 points and 11 rebounds, but a late charge by UC Davis fell just shy as Florida A&M (5-7) held off the Aggies in the consolation game of the Women of Troy Classic, UCD reported.
The loss was the third in a row after a six-game winning streak for UC Davis, which fell to 6-5.
Bertsch logged her third 20-point game in her last four outings, finishing 8 of 14 from the field and setting a career high on the glass.
