Sacramento State, UC Davis to hold football spring games

The Sacramento State and UC Davis football teams will cap their spring football training camps with team scrimmages Saturday morning.

Sac State will play its spring game at 10:30 a.m. at Hornet Stadium; UCD will battle one hour later at Aggie Stadium as part of the university’s annual Picnic Day festivities. Both are free and open to the public.

Sac State has used the spring practices to get out into the community. The Hornets held team scrimmages at Inderkum and Del Campo high schools.

It also was a chance for returning players to get acquainted with new assistant coaches Paul Wulff and Will Plemons.

Wulff, a Woodland native, is the Hornets’ assistant head coach and offensive line coach and has been a head coach at Eastern Washington and Washington State. Plemons is making his second tour with the Hornets after coaching the defensive line in 2007. He also worked as an assistant coach at Fresno State and in the Canadian Football League.

Gould also brought in new assistant football coaches Tim Keane and Bryant Haines during the offseason.

Keane, a former UCD player and assistant coach, is the Aggies’ offensive line coach. He was the offensive coordinator at the College of Idaho under former Aggies player and coach Mike Moroski. Haines, the Aggies new linebackers coach, was the defensive line coach last season at Indiana University (Pa.).

▪  Sac State announced the signing of Notre Dame High School of Sherman Oaks guard/forward Chibueze Jacobs to a National Letter of Intent.
