Sacramento State’s Mikh McKinney was named co-Big Sky Conference men’s basketball player of the week today.
McKinney, who was honored for the second week in a row and third time this season, shared this week’s honor with Eastern Washington’s Tyler Harvey.
McKinney, a 6-foot-1 senior guard, averaged 28.5 points, six assists, two rebounds and one steal in the Hornets’ road victories over Idaho State and Weber State. McKinney shot 62.1 percent from the floor, 61.5 percent from three-point range and 76.5 percent from the free-throw line. And he had just one turnover in 78 minutes.
In the Hornets’ 62-59 victory over Idaho State on Thursday in Pocatello, Idaho, McKinney had 24 points, five assists, three rebounds and one steal. On Saturday, in the Hornets’ 78-71 victory over Weber State – just the second time the Hornets have beaten the Wildcats in Ogden, Utah – McKinney scored a career-high 33 points, including 27 in the second half, to go with seven assists.

The Hornets play home games on Thursday against Montana State and Saturday against Montana. Both games are 7:05 p.m. tipoffs at The Nest.
Harvey, a 6-4 junior guard, averaged 30.5 points, 3.5 assists and 3.5 rebounds in Eastern Washington’s victories over Northern Colorado and North Dakota.
