Sacramento Republic FC is scheduling block parties and fan events in the coming weeks to celebrate the World Cup coming to the United States.

Sacramento’s professional soccer team on Tuesday announced a downtown kickoff party, a two-day street festival and the creation of a “Sac Soccer Guide” to help fans find watch parties and soccer events throughout the region during the World Cup.

Republic FC is hosting a kickoff event June 11, the day the World Cup begins, with a kickoff party at Garden at the Line in East Sacramento. The team said there will be games, giveaways and photo opportunities, while the beer garden will have drink specials, casual soccer games and big-screen TVs to watch the games.

The “marquee event” is going to be June 24-25, in Downtown Plaza Park at 910 I St. for block party soccer events. Fans on the first night catch watch Mexico play its final group match. The United States Men’s National Team the next night plays in its group stage finale.

The team said both nights will include family friendly activities, food trucks, live music and appearances from Republic FC players and coaches. The parties are all form all ages and free, but tickets required. Tickets can be found at SacSoccerGuide.com.

While the MLS is pausing its season for the World Cup, the United Soccer League, in which Republic FC plays, is continuing its schedule. Republic FC will have a home game Saturday, June 20, against New Mexico United, which will include a beer festival at Heart Health Park the day of the game.

The team will also have a home match Wednesday, July 8, against Rhode Island FC during the first scheduled off day of the World Cup.
